I'm proud to be of Hispanic Heritage my parents worked hard to bring us to this country so we can better ourselves and to contribute in a positive way. What I think is a lost art is celebrating our heritage ancestry by allowing to tell our families stories of struggle; the blood, sweat and tears to make it in our birth country and how we overcame obstacles to make it in this country when we got here. I'm sure there are many stories that are worth telling. We need such a platform.

Discover the Hispanic heritage of the U.S. Territory of Guam. Guam has nearly four hundred years of Hispanic history and heritage. Hispanic heritage is evident in almost all aspects of the island's culture including dance, traditional dress, gastronomy, architecture, religion, language, folklore, way of thinking, and way of being. https://www.facebook.com/holaguam/

Great site! I especially enjoyed the Fun Facts. Thank you for helping us learn and appreciate this wonderful heritage! As a Filipino-American, I have an affinity to my people's roots as a former colony of Espana. Up to my grandfather's generation, Spanish was still taught in the Philippines' public schools. Thanks again.

Proud Afro-Latina! Let's make sure that the people page represents not just our entertainers, who are incredible people in their own right, but local heroes/sheroes, national liberators, elected officials here and throughout the diaspora. Let this page include a monthly tribute to a Hispanic/Latino of note/interest throughout the year. If we don't promote our history, nobody will

Why are there no teacher resources on your site? I want my room to ring proud for our month just as it does for Black History Month and Women's History Month.

Ray Greene said:   October 6, 2014 8:04 am PST
Great site! Always look forward to your celebration but why only one month? Hispanics and los negroes should be included in the fabric of the educational system - text book, etc.

Nice poem but maricones and prejuicios do not need an accent mark. Tradicion and corazon need one on the last "o". Unica needs one on the 'u" and jamas needs one on the last "a".

The National Hispanic Cultural Center is here in Albuquerque where I live. They decided instead of DC to put it here since this is the largest city in the state where the birthplace of "Hispanidad" is and still the highest percentage of Hispanics are..

How come there isn't a Smithsonian museum for Hispanics? There's one for Native Americans, and now one is being built for African Americans. Seems to me that Hispanics (Mexicans in particular) were here before los negros.
